The New Buccaneer, under Capt Garrett King with Capt Nik Simpson as second captain, departed Pier 19 with 39 passengers for a 30 hour safari trip. The weather got a little choppy late that night, but fishing was fantastic: one of the best overnight safari trips in recent memory. The New Buccaneer arrived back at the dock at 1PM Sunday with:
13 Yellowfin Tuna up to 80 lbs
153 Blackfin Tuna
2 Rainbow Runners
1 5-lb Queen Triggerfish
5 Mangrove snapper
7 Amberjacks
3 creole
194 vermillion snapper
14 lane snapper
5 dorado

November 10-11 30 hour safari trip. The New Buccaneer, under Capt Garrett King, ventured 100 miles offshore on a 30 hour overnight safari trip with 49 customers. The catch consisted of:
4 scamp grouper
80 vermillion snapper
7 lane snapper
7 amberjack
1 65-lb yellowfin tuna
145 blackfin tuna |

The New Buccaneer and 40 fishermen were piloted by Capt Garrett King on a 12 hour deep sea excursion today. With red snapper season closed, a great day of fishing was still enjoyed as the catch consisted of:
295 vermillion snapper
20 lane snapper
4 gray (mangrove) snapper
3 amberjack
1 cobia (ling)
1 squirrelfish (whatever that it)

Today was an intersting trip indeed as this was the first trip after the closure of the 2007 red snapper season on October 31. A company paid for a large number of their employees to go on a offshore outing, but only a few showed up. As such, the New Buccaneer went offshore with only 9 customers and the mission to catch something other than red snapper. They did very well as the 9 anglers came in with:
11 lane snapper
2 spanish mackerel
82 angelfish
20 gray triggerfish. |
