Seas 7-9 feet today, so we chose safety and cancelled our offshore trip. The New Buccaneer is the largest party boat in Galveston and can take the seas, but taking folkes offshore when the NWS reports seas of 7-9 feet is a risky proposition. Others went out today and no doubt the sea sickness factor must have been about a 9 out of 10.

A pretty decent day of fishing both in the bay and offhshore. The 4 hour bay trip aboard the Cavalier catch a stingray, a slot red drum and a mixed bag of croakers, small sharks and gafftop. Offshore, the New Buccaneer brought in 145 red snapper (a boat limit), 210 vermillion snapper, 5 lane and 6 mangrove snapper, 1 king mackeral, 4 sharpnose sharks, 30 gray triggerfish and 1 60-lb cobia (ling).

Capt. Garrett King took a small load of 36 anglers on a deep sea trip aboard the New Buccaneer on a day in which the sun actually came out. Customers brought in a legal limit of red snapper, 20 vermilion snapper, 20 king mackeral, 10 bonito and 5 cobia. More than 60 cobia were caught, but only 5 were the minimum 33 inches in fork length. It was a very good day of fishing.

The 4 hour AM trip also had a decent catch of red drum along with several sharks.
