We have had just a great run of weather here. Not really. Of the five scheduled 30 hour safari trips planned through May 9-10, weather has forced the cancellation of four of them. The New Buccaneer did make a 30 hour private charter trip on Monday/Tuesday April 13-14. There were 41 persons on the trip with the following catch:
10 warsaw grouper, with 9 released 2 rockhind grouper 4 blacktip shark, with 4 released 5 triggerfish 225+ red snapper, with all released 150 vermillion snapper 7 amberjack 134 blackfin tuna 3 yellow fin to 50lbs

After nearly six months of work recovering from the damage caused by Hurricane Ike, we finally are back making regular fishing trips and went both offshore and bay fishing every day of Spring Break. Here are some photos from the bay fishing trips from that week.

Update of progress. We have been working every day at Pier 19 since the Sept 13, 2008 direct hit by Hurricane Ike. To date we have rebuilt our fuel dock and office. Electrical service was restored to our office on Jan 16, 2009: Four months and three days after Ike! We are still without phone service: it is scheduled to be connected around Feb 2, but we have learned that things tend to not go as scheduled. Hurricane Ike blew or washed away everything except the bureaucracy of the City, Port, phone company, power company, etc.

Well, this is not a fishing report rather it is a Hurricane Ike report. We took a direct hit from Hurrican Ike and here are some photos to show what we faced and the repairs made to date. As of today, Pier 19 has no phones or power. They are being worked on, but the Port has yet to begin repairing the damaged docks. This will also start soon, but there is quite a bit to be done.
