This morning's four hour bay/jetty fishing trip was headed up by Capt. Johnny Williams With fishing a little on the slow side, he had the 44 fishermen working their baits at various spots inside and outside both of the jetties and in the vicinity of the concrete ship Selma.

Today's catch included a smattering of whiting, hardheads and gafftop catfish. With warming waters as Spring approaches, catch numbers will pick up. Black drum are also starting to show and should be on the increase.

Both of today's bay and jetty fishing trips aboard the Texsun II were headed up again by Capt. Dan Bunday. After leaving Galveston's Pier 19 on the morning trip, their fishing destination was once again to that area of the South Jetty. The afternoon four hour trip was also in the same general area.

Using the same baits and having the same great water conditions as on the Friday trips, they came up with these catch totals: The morning's 53 fishermen wound up whiting, sand trout and croakers totaling 73, also in this catch was 3 Atlantic sharpnose sharks, several gafftop catfish and numerous hardhead catfish which were released, as is the custom. The afternoon trip's croakers, whiting and sand trout totaled 81, along with several Atlantic sharpnose sharks, gafftop catfish and more released hardhead catfish.

To make your reservations on one or more of these family-oriented, four hour bay and jetty fishing trips on the Texsun II, call or come by the office at Pier 19 in Galveston. Today's morning and afternoon four hour bay and jetty fishing trips by the partyboat Texsun II wee headed up by Capt. Dan Bunday. Both trips were run to the area of Galveston's South Jetty, with 48 fishermen on the morning run and 51 on the afternoon. They had a combination of whiting, sand trout and croaker which totaled out at 98 in the morning. The afternoon trip total of the same species was 89. Both also had several Atlantic sharpnose sharks, a few gafftop catfish and numerous hardhead catfish in their catch totals. This morning's trip also had a ling that was released because it was a "hair" undersized.

Bait used and fished at or near the bottom was pieces of cut squid. The exceptionally clear and clean water conditions likely had a part in the catch results.
