Well, those two unwanted visitors "Breezy & Bumpy" were back today. The good news is that one of those multi-species catches was out there also. Today's fishing area was at that productive spot about forty miles offshore. Capt. Tony Langston pointed the sleek twin hulls of the partyboat Capt. John in a southerly direction after turning at the end of the Galveston south jetty.

Wrecks and rigs in the area's eighty ft. deep water produced this catch for the 63 fishermen and their squid or sardine baits:

* 126 red snapper to 13#, a daily limit for the 63 fishermen aboard.
* 36 lane snapper
* 41 mangrove snapper to 9#
* 40 Atlantic spadefish, "tiger snapper"
* 1 ling
* 1 kingfish

Not only was this a multi-species catch, taken under somewhat bouncy conditions, but those 41 mangrove snapper to 9 lbs. were quite impressive on their own. Breezy and Bumpy are bound to exit the area soon ... so make your reservation at the rail - give the office a call at 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853.

With the back-to-school doldrums having set in, multiple offshore trips during the regular week are hard to come by. This first trip offshore since Sunday by the partyboat Capt. John was, as usual, headed up by Capt. Tony Langston.

With 33 fishermen aboard, a turn to the south through somewhat choppy Gulf waters was made. Shortly after departing Pier 19, they headed for that familiar area forty miles offshore, with its wrecks and rigs in around 80 ft. of water.

The fishermen's efforts and baits of cut squid or Spanish sardines produced this catch:

* 66 red snapper to 10 lb., a boat limit
* 24 mangrove snapper to 8 lb.
* 44 lane snapper
* 71 Atlantic spadefish (tiger snapper)
* 9 blue runner

With the amount of fishermen on many of these fall day trips reduced, now may be the time to schedule your offshore trip. Our offshore waters are still on the warm side, and depending on the area fished, the regular cast of characters are still swimming out there. Don't forget that the red snapper fishery in Federal waters closes in a little over four weeks, and will last from six to eight months. Don't miss out on having a shot at some of those tasty fillets. Give the office a call at 409-762-8808 to make your reservations.

Today's offshore fishing trip by the partyboat Capt. John had a short load of 35 fishermen. They enjoyed not only fishing but the great weather and sea conditions that continue in our part of the Gulf. The area fished was that productive zone about 45 miles to the south of Galveston Island. Capt. Tony Langston had them working their squid and sardine baits throughout the water column at wrecks and rigs in 110 ft. of water.

Returning to Galveston's Pier 19, the fishermen's catch totals for the various species taken were:

* 70 red snapper (boat limit) to 8#
* 22 vermilion snapper
* 31 lane snapper
* 10 mangrove snapper
* 124 Atlantic spadefish "tiger snapper"
* 9 gray triggerfish
* 4 rock hind grouper

With fall now upon us, and the red snapper fishery closing soon, the reality of our offshore fishing changes sets in. This time of year, the passenger loads are also historically smaller. Make your reservations on the Capt. John by calling 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853...your spot at the rail is waiting for you along with your part of one of these multi-species catches.

The Gulf still maintained its calm conditions for today's offshore fishing trip by the partyboat Capt. John. With Capt. Tony Langston in the driver's seat, the decision was made to fish several rocks and wrecks about forty miles to the south of Galveston. With a full boat of 83 fishermen working their baits from the bottom to the near surface area in 90 to 100 ft. of water, this catch ended up in the ice boxes:

* 166 red snapper to 13#, a boat limit.
* 21 mangrove snapper to 12#
* 36 lane snapper
* 201 Atlantic spadefish (tiger snapper)
* 19 gray triggerfish
* 1 Warsaw grouper

Make your reservations on the Capt. John and experience participating in of these multi-species catches – call the office at 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853. Don't forget – the red snapper fishery has only a little over five weeks until it will be closed for six to eight months. Make those reservations on the Capt. John soon, especially if red snappers are on your fishing wish list.

Today's offshore fishing trip by the partyboat Capt. John was a charter by Pulte Homes. This Houston area group of 30 was headed up by Tim Winchester. Having beautiful weather and a calm Gulf to work with, Capt. Tony Langston pointed the twin hulls of the Capt. John to the south. That turn after passing the end of the south jetty was the beginning of a 40 mile offshore run.

Baits that were worked from near the surface to the bottom were pieces of cut squid and or Spanish sardines. Their targets were wrecks and rigs in 95-105 ft. of water. Those baits and the fishermen's efforts produced this catch...

* 60 red snapper to 8 lbs., a boat limit
* 10 mangrove snapper to 8 lb.
* 20 lane snapper
* 26 Atlantic spadefish
* 9 blue runner
* 20 gray triggerfish
* 1 lady fish
* 2 ling of 40 lb. each

To book both individual trips or a "team building" company charter, call the Capt. John's office at Galveston's Pier 19, 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853.
