The run to the fishing area for the day by the Capt. John was again a smooth one, seas of a foot or so played a big part. That offshore run was to the area of the old Buccaneer platforms about 27 miles SSW of The Island. These submerged objects in 70' of water attract a variety of fish species to their barnacles, etc. encrusted surfaces.
Today's efforts of the 78 fishermen produced this catch:
81 red snapper to 7# 89 lane snapper 21 sand trout 79 Atlantic spadefish
Making your reservations on one of these 12 hour offshore fishing trips can start with a call to the Capt. John's reservations office at Galveston's Pier 19. Those numbers are 409-762-8808 and 713-223-4853 - call today.

Today's offshore day trip by the partyboat Capt. John, out of Galveston's Pier 19, was headed up by Capt. Tony Langston.
After running through the Galveston channel and exiting the Galveston jetties, the offshore trip began. A run in a southerly direction of about 50 miles through the calm Gulf waters and the fishing started for the 82 fishermen. Working their baits through the 120' water column at the area's rock formations and a wreck produced this catch that tried to eat those squid pieces and whole sardines:
A red snapper limit to 10# (164, with many of 5#). 66 vermilion snapper 13 lane snapper 12 kingfish 10 gray triggerfish 3 Atlantic sharpnose sharks 1 Warsaw grouper of 18#
Sam Rosas of Sugarland had a red snapper limit to 10# and a kingfish limit, all on Spanish sardines.
The Gulf has been a kindly calm for almost a week; hopefully that kindness will continue. The red snapper bite has vastly improved over the last few days also, and all of those fishermen who are interested in that species hope for a continuance there. Multi-species catches are the norm, just what numbers of what species is the question. Give the Capt. John's office at Galveston's Pier 19 a call at 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853 to make your reservations. Your rod, reel and squid for bait is part of the package.

Seas of a foot or less - what more could you ask for as you stand on the forward deck of the partyboat Capt. John while headed offshore from Galveston? On the minds of most of the 81 fishermen was probably a nice red snapper limit, along with a few other species. Capt. Tony Langston put them over the bottom spots to do exactly that over the course of the trip.
A run of about 60 miles in a southerly direction through the open Gulf and they were at the fishing area for today. Working their baits, whole or cut Spanish sardines or pieces of cut squid throughout the 120 ft. water column, they wound up this catch:
162 red snapper, a boat limit, with many in the 6-7# class and the heaviest going 10#. 101 vermilion snapper 4 kingfish
Call the office at Galveston's Pier 19, 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853 and make your reservations to get aboard the partyboat Capt. John and enjoy an offshore fishing adventure at a bargain price. Come see what's swimming about out there with your name on it!

Today's 12 hour offshore fishing trip by the partyboat Capt. John was a charter by Pyramid Waterproofing of Houston. Heading up the group of 50 fishermen was Pat Smith. After entering the calm Gulf waters, Capt. Johnny Williams pointed the twin hulls in a SSE direction.
After a run of about 50 miles, fishing started at a series of rock formations in 120 ft. of water. The highlight of those stops was a 46# ling that hit a live vermilion snapper fished on the bottom by Alesandro Castro. Besides the ling, several species of reef fish were also taken, including a boat limit of red snapper to 9#.
A production platform in 70 ft. of water about 30 miles offshore was fished on the way home. Species taken there were triggerfish, kingfish, Atlantic spadefish and mangrove snapper. This stop's heaviest kingfish was a 23 pounder that hit and ate Jay Vangelder's freelined Spanish sardine. The day's catch included:
100 red snapper to 9# (a boat limit) 7 kingfish to 23# 1 ling of 46# 43 Atlantic spadefish 6 lane snapper 1 mangrove snapper 1 gray triggerfish 14 vermilion snapper
The group from Pyramid Waterproofing has done an offshore charter trip each June or July for a number of years, starting back on the Texsun II. Group charters or taking a company group out as part of a regular day trip is an ideal time for the group to have a relaxed, getting to know each other a little better in a situation away from their work atmosphere.
To book your individual or group reservations on the partyboat Capt. John, give the office at Galveston's Pier 19 a call. Dorothy and Vicky are waiting to hear from you, make the call to 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853. Also -- a reminder that August 4 is the last day the red snapper fishery in Federal waters will be open. Don't let your time run out!

Fortunately, the calm sea conditions continue for the waters offshore Galveston. With that plus as a starting point,Capt. Tony Langston pointed the twin hulls of the partyboat Capt. John in an easterly direction once it exited the Galveston jetties. Destination for today's fishing was rocks and production platforms about 40 miles out in 70' of water. The 51 fishermen, using baits of Spanish sardines or cut squid, worked the entire water column for this catch:
2 ling of 35 and 45# 7 kingfish, 20# ea. 2 mangrove snapper 1 Spanish mackerel of 5# 4 bluefish 208 Atlantic spadefish 26 red snapper to 12#
The red snapper total was just over half a limit for 51 fishermen and the two ling were a nice addition to this multi-species catch. That 5# Spanish mackerel was a bit of a surprise, bringing up the point that you never know what the catch could be made up of. Give the Capt. John's office at Pier 19 a call, 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853 will get you there and the Capt. John will get you where the fish are -- call today.
