This 8 hour offshore fishing trip by the partyboat Capt. John was headed up by Capt. Johnny Williams. Today's fishing area was at the wrecks of old Buccaneer field's production platforms in 70 ft. of water. Baits of Spanish sardines or pieces of cut squid used by the 82 fishermen, along with their efforts, produced this catch:
34 lane snapper 1 mangrove snapper 5 Atlantic sharpnose sharks 8 bluerunner 1 Spanish mackerel 430 Atlantic spadefish 12 grunts
Some of those grunts in today's multi-species catch undoubtedly came from some of those who were catching all of those hard-pulling, great eating Atlantic spadefish. To make your reservations on the Capt. John and participate in some of this multi-species fishing, make the call to the Pier 19 offices, 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853.

With a strong breeze coming out of the southwest, Capt. Johnny Williams took the option of heading east again, avoiding a bit of a pounding from a head sea.
The area fished by the 65 fishermen was that cluster of production platforms about 35 miles past the end of Galveston's South Jetty. Soaking their baits throughout the 55-60 ft. water column caused this to volunter to come aboard:
229 Atlantic spadefish 1 Jack Crevalle 7 atlantic sharpnose sharks 1 bluefish
Making your reservations on the Capt John is easy - make the call to the office at Pier 19, 409-762-8808, 409-713-223-4853; the office staff will fill you in on how to get it done.

With Capt. Johnny Williams at the wheel, the partyboat Capt. John headed in an easterly direction after turning the end of Galveston's South Jetty. A run of about 35 miles had them at a series of production platforms in 50-60 ft. of water.
The 74 fishermen's cut squid or Spanish sardine baits made their contribution to this catch throughout the water column, which included the following totals:
673 Atlantic spadefish 10 Atlantic sharpnose sharks 1 mangrove snapper 1 lane snapper 1 gray triggerfish 3 Spanish mackerel
If those hard-pulling and great-eating Atlantic spadefish are of interest to you, now is apparently the time to go. Make your reservations to get aboard the Capt. John by calling the Pier 19 office at 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853.

Today's 8 hour offshore fishing trip on the partyboat Capt. John was run with Capt. Johnny Williams. His fishing destination for the 57 fishermen aboard was the same area as the Wednesday trip, several production platforms in 55 ft. of water. The easterly run was through the open waters of the Gulf, about 55 miles past the end of Galveston's South Jetty. Catch results were:
317 Atlantic spadefish 2 lane snapper 2 mangrove snapper 1 pompano 2 Spanish mackerel 14 Atlantic sharpnose sharks
Obviously, Atlantic spadefish were the "hot bite" today. Not only do they readily eat small pieces of squid, most are hooked while you watch them eat, just below the surface. They pull 10 times their size and are great to eat. All five other species in today's catch are also excellent eating and fun to catch. To make your reservations on one or more of these 8 hour offshore fishing trips on the partyboat Capt. John, give the office at Pier 19 a call. The numbers are: 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853.
