With a full boat of 83 fishermen aboard the partyboat Capt John, the run offshore began with Capt. Johnny Williams at the wheel. After a run of about 55 miles south, they arrived at today's fishing area, with its rock formations in 110 ft. of water.
The snapper were home; the boat limit catch of 166 which contained many of 8 to 12# was proof of that. Some were suspended at the mid-depths but the majority came from near or at the bottom. The standard baits of cut squid or Spanish sardines did the job that they're know for today, and brought in this catch:
166 red snapper to 15#, a boat limit. 14 vermilion snapper 3 lane snapper 1 bonito 4 kingfish 1 ling, 25#
The brilliant red/orange flash of the snapper hang was a thing of beauty as the Capt John approached the dock at Galveston's Pier 19. To make your reservations on the Capt. John and make your contribution to the catch numbers of the fun-to-catch and great to eat red snapper, give the office a call at 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853. Patrick

Nicer Gulf conditions were in place for the partyboat Capt. John's offshore fishing trip today, unlike the previous couple of days. Capt. Johnny Williams once again chose the area about 60 miles to the southeast of The Island as today's target fishing area.
Sardine and squid baits did their usual good jobs again today. From the upper levels of the water column to the bottom, the 81 fishermen aboard had success which translated into the following catch:
162 red snapper to 15#, a boat limit. 9 vermilion snapper 1 kingfish 7 Atlantic sharpnose sharks
Reserving your place at the rail on the Capt. John starts with a phone call to 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853, where Dorothy, Vicky or Rita are there at the Pier 19 office, waiting to book your place and answer your questions. Call today - remember -there's only about 8 weeks left for the red snapper fishery to be open in Federal waters for 2009. Patrick

The Capt. John's 12 hour offshore fishing trip today was a charter by Pyramid Roofing of Houston. Capt. Johnny Williams had their group of 65 fishing over various bottom structure about 60 miles off the end of Galveston's South Jetty in an easterly direction. On the way back, a bottom stop and a production platform were also fished.
The group's sardine or squid baits, worked throughout the entire water column, coaxed another of those multi-species catches into biting. The red snapper part of the catch was 100% of a boat limit, 130, to be exact. Some kingfish and a couple of ling were the icing on the cake. Total catch numbers and species:
130 red snapper to 13# 26 kingfish to 21# 6 vermilion snapper 1 triggerfish 2 Atlantic sharpnose sharks 2 ling of 30 and 35#
Today's charter by Pyramid Roofing is an example of a great opportunity for a company, club or any group to have a sort of team meeting in a relaxed fishing atmosphere. Whether it's a group or an individual booking, the partyboat Capt. John experience is a situation where a day offshore with co-workers, friends or newfound friends is one to be remembered.Fellowship and offshore fishing for red snapper, kingfish, etc., what a combination!
Make your group or individual reservations - call the office at Galveston's Pier 19, 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853. Get your boss to look at the Capt John's website fishing reports, too - caution, a company or group fishing trip could break out! Patrick

"Breezy & Bumpy" were in place again today. A bumpy ride offshore to the SE began once Capt. Johnny Williams had passed the end of Galveston's South Jetty. Destination was the same area as yesterday, about 50 miles offshore.
The 70 fishermen worked their squid or sardine baits from the near surface area to the bottom; with less than perfect fishing conditions to work with, they brought up a varied-species catch that included a red snapper limit for the boat. Totals were:
140 red snapper to 20#, a boat limit, with a dozen at 10# or over. 9 lane snapper 7 kingfish to 27# 2 Atlantic sharpnose sharks 1 Atlantic spadefish 3 triggerfish
Hopefully, "Breezy and Bumpy" won't stick around for long, since they definitely affect the comfort level when standing at the rail. In spite of the bumpy Gulf, another good catch was reeled in. The breezy weather won't last and neither will the red snapper fishery being open - don't forget that the last day it's open for 2009 is August 14. Also, don't forget that required Texas Saltwater fishing license; 1-800-TXLIC4U will get you on the way to having yours. Make that call to the Capt. John's office at Pier 19, 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853 will get the staff taking your reservation, call today! Patrick

"Breezy & Bumpy" made something of a showing during today's offshore fishing trip by the partyboat Capt. John. Capt. Johnny Williams took the 47 fishermen to the same general area as the last couple of days, 50 miles SE of Galveston.
Using the standard partyboat baits of cut squid or whole sardines on this somewhat bouncy day, the fishermen wound in this catch: 73 red snapper to 22#, 76% of a boat limit, many of over 10# in the catch. 30 lane snapper 3 mangrove snapper 2 triggerfish 8 Atlantic sharpnose sharks 6 kingfish 1 Warsaw grouper - 12#, with two released to 30#.
It would appear that "Somewhat Bumpy" conditions didn't seem to affect the total catch to a great degree. While the red snapper portion of the catch was short of a limit, numerous nice ones did end up in the fish boxes. To reserve your spot at the rail on the Capt. John, give the office a call at Galveston's Pier 19 a ring -- 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853. Don't forget that you need a Texas Saltwater fishing license to legally land your catch at the dock. 1-800-TXLIC4U is a quick and easy way to get yours. Patrick
