All 72 fishermen on the partyboat Capt. John had another relatively calm and hot fishing day ahead of them as Capt. Johnny Williams pointed the boat's twin hulls in a southeasterly direction, about a half hour from when they left Galveston's Pier 19.

Fishing the same general area, up to about 60 miles offshore, while using the standard baits of cut squid or sardines, success was the result. Those baits, fished from the near surface to the bottom, plus the fishermen's efforts, fooled this catch into biting:

144 red snapper, boat limit for 72 fishermen
23 lane snapper
15 kingfish

To make your reservations aboard the partyboat Capt. John and be able to be part of this "catching", give the office a call at 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853.

Don't forget -- the short length of time the red snapper fishery is open in Federal waters will end soon. August 14 is the last day of the red snapper season and it will be here much sooner than it sounds today.

Today's offshore fishing trip was again headed up by Capt. Johnny Williams. With 82 fishermen aboard the partyboat Capt John, he again fished the same general area as Thursday's trip, up to 60 miles SE of Galveston.

The squid or sardine baits that were worked throughout the water column produced this catch:

164 red snapper, boat limit for 82 fishermen.
11 lane snapper
1 ling
1 African pompano
1 Warsaw grouper
21 kingfish
26 Atlantic spadefish

With the hot and calm offshore conditions continuing, the run SE of The Island by the partyboat Capt. John was a smooth one. Capt. Johnny Williams had the 35 fishermen working their squid or sardine baits in up to 150 ft. of water at a production platform and several rock formations up to 60 miles offshore. Today's catch results were:

70 red snapper, a boat limit for 35 fishermen.
35 kingfish
1 ling

Capt. Johnny Williams headed up today's offshore fishing trip of the partyboat Capt. John. He had the 59 of us fishermen working our squid or sardine baits over a wreck in 170 ft. of water, about 60 miles to the south of Galveston.

The Gulf was calm, very little breeze and it was HOT. Our fishing resulted in one of the more varied catches to be wound in recently. These species and numbers were:

98 red snapper to 9#, over 83% of a boat limit.
104 vermilion snapper to 4#
6 mangrove snapper to 5#
11 lane snapper to 3#
3 Atlantic sharpnose sharks
2 gray triggerfish
17 kingfish to 24#
3 porgy
1 ling of 33#
3 greater amberjack to 25#
6 great barracuda, released
6 rockhind grouper
1 grasby grouper
1 Warsaw grouper of 25#

Rita Baumann(Texas City), and her daughter Patty Hardesty, her sons Daniel & Michael and daughter, Laura (N. Carolina) all with red snapper limits & vermilion snapper. Laura also had a kingfish.
Patrick Lemire(Texas City) My red snapper limit went to 4#, along with vermilion snapper to 3# and one of the released barracuda that hit an all white sardine tipped Snapper Slapper.

Make your reservations on the Capt John and see what contribution you make to a multi-species catch; snapper, kingfish, ling, a grouper? who knows - It's a bit attraction of offshore fishing, the unknown species on your hook. Give the office a call at 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853 to reserve your spot at the rail...what's waiting for you offshore?
Patrick

This Father's day offshore fishing trip withCapt. Shawn Clark had the 71 fishermen aboard fishing over a wreck about 60 miles south of Galveston in 150 ft. of water.

Their baits of cut squid or Spanish sardines, fished throughout the depths, enticed this multi-species catch into biting:

66 red snapper
143 vermilion snapper
ling
Atlantic spadefish
1 Warsaw grouper
mangrove snapper
kingfish
Jack Crevalle
Amberjack

Give us a call at the Capt. John office at Galveston's Pier 19 to reserve your spot at the rail and experience some of this multi-species offshore fishing. Office numbers are 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853. Call today, don't forget that the red snapper fishery in Federal waters closes in early August...make the call.
